What is involved in EMG biofeedback at Olympic Physical Therapy? Your physical therapist will first take your history and conduct an assessment of the structure and function of your feet - taking a close look at how each foot segment relates to the other. You'll also discuss your individual symptoms.
Next, your physical therapist will use a video camera to capture your movements during a specific activity such as walking, running or swinging a golf club. Then the footage is played back in slow motion or at full speed. Our physical therapists are experts in observing and analyzing posture and movement patterns for faulty biomechanics. Simply put, watching the videotape can help them assess what is provoking your pain.
Lastly, the results of your assessment and taped footage will be combined - and your therapist will develop a customized exercise program to address your issue and prevent further recurrences. You will be given exercises to do on your own at home to retrain your body's movement patterns. And you may also receive recommendations for a particular type of footwear, or orthotics. |
