“They had a detailed program specifically for me - the nice thing about it was that I had people with me, monitoring my progress. It's been remarkable. I'm back to my ordinary exercise regimen and I'm feeling good!”

Back and Neck Injury

Our back and neck injury treatments are composed of manual physical therapy techniques that relieve pain and restore function
Why seek treatment?
Many of us experience back or neck pain, and most of the time it quickly goes away without need of treatment. If the pain lasts longer than several weeks, is accompanied by symptoms into the arms or legs, or develops at the same time as another systemic situation, it is a good idea to seek medical intervention.
What causes back and neck pain?
The spine is an amazingly complex structure. Its 24 vertebrae are connected by intervertebral discs, numerous ligaments, facet joints and their capsules, and spinal muscles. Together, these tissues work to move the spine in a controlled manner while protecting the spinal cord and its nerves. Pain in the back or neck can be experienced if there is an injury or irritation to any of the spine's structures. The pain may be due to a recent trauma - but it is most often the result of small traumas, repeated over time.
How can Olympic Physical Therapy help?
One of our expert therapists can determine the source of pain, then develop a plan to return you to your usual activities, as safely and quickly as possible.
What treatments are used?

The physical therapists at Olympic Physical Therapy have advanced training in a specialty area known as manual physical therapy. That means that they are trained to examine the stability of the passive structures of the spine (joints, discs, ligaments, etc.), evaluate the strength and flexibility of the associated muscles and joints, and observe posture and movement patterns. After an evaluation that identifies the location and cause of the injury, treatment can begin.

Depending on your individual needs, your treatment plan may include a wide variety of interventions. Your physical therapist may use hands-on techniques such as mysofacial release and joint mobilization. You may receive modalities such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation or traction. And you will likely receive instruction in posture, ergonomics and body mechanics - as well as sport-specific movement re-education - to prevent recurrence of pain. Ultimately you will receive a custom program with exercises tailored to your specific needs.

What is the goal?
Our goal at Olympic Physical Therapy is to relieve not only your current pain, but to give you the tools to prevent the pain from recurring.
